Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Is Once Again Recognized as One of the Top 10 in the Country

In its July 17, 2000, “America’s Best Hospitals” issue, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh seventh for pediatrics among 188 premier hospitals across the United States. This is the tenth year that Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has been listed in the top 10.

The ranking is the result of an exclusive survey formulated in conjunction with the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Rankings are assessed in 17 specialties. The pediatric specialty survey sample was comprised of 150 board-certified pediatric specialists who were randomly selected from the American Medical Association’s database of members and nonmembers. Physicians are asked to name the five hospitals they consider the best in their respective specialties, without considering cost or location.

The other hospitals among the top 10 for children are: Children’s Hospital (Boston), Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore), Children’s Hospital (Denver), Children’s Hospital (Los Angeles), University Hospitals of Cleveland (Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital), Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston), New York Presbyterian Hospital (Babies & Children’s Hospital) and Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

The 2000 rankings will appear in the July 17 issue of U.S. News & World Report, on newsstands Monday, July 10.
