First Woman Elected to Chair Children’s Hospital’s Board of Trustees
Pittsburgh, Pa. -
October 18, 2000
-
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh announced today the appointment of Mary Jo Dively, 41, as the chair of the hospital’s Board of Trustees.
Ms. Dively is the first woman to be elected board chair in the hospital’s 110-year history. She succeeds Ronald L. Violi, whose two-year term as board chairman expired. Mr. Violi will continue in his role as Children’s chief executive officer.
Ms. Dively is an attorney and shareholder at Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling, where she chairs the firm’s Technology Law Group. In that capacity, Ms. Dively concentrates her practice on developing electronic commerce law and represents both large and emerging technology and Internet companies, as well as traditional firms transitioning to e-business.
Ms. Dively has been a member of Children’s Board of Trustees since 1995. Since then, she has served as vice chair of the Board of Trustees, chaired the Finance Committee, and was a member of the board’s Executive Committee and Technology Steering Committee.
“Mary Jo’s commitment to Children’s Hospital is exemplary. Consistently, she has demonstrated leadership qualities and has worked tirelessly on behalf of Children’s Hospital. We’re very fortunate to benefit from the services of such a respected and knowledgeable member of the Pittsburgh legal and business community,” said Mr. Violi.
Ms. Dively received B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Kansas and a J.D. degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law. She is a member of the American Law Institute, co-chairs the Information Transactions Committee of the American Bar Association and is a past director of the Pittsburgh Technology Council. In addition, she was an American Bar Association Advisor to the Drafting Committee of the Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act.
She and her husband, Lane, and their triplet boys reside in Fox Chapel.
