McGuire, Marianne, MS, CGC
Marianne McGuire MS, CGC, joined the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC's Division of Medical Genetics in September of 2006, after graduating from the Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville NY with a Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling. Marianne completed her undergraduate work at West Virginia University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Fine arts. She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors, and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and the American College of Medical Genetics.
Before arriving at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Marianne was involved with a breast cancer study designed to evaluate the effects of behavioral changes on the immune response using genomics and proteomics. She also served as a research assistant and project coordinator for one of the few supplemental newborn screening laboratories in the country. As project coordinator, she co-authored a pilot study evaluating the feasibility of mass newborn screening for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies. Her clinical interests include cystic fibrosis, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and neurogenetics.
