Description of Services
Specialists in the Pediatric Vascular Anomalies Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC are trained to care for children with a wide spectrum of birthmarks, including hemangiomas and their concomitant complications, as well as vascular malformations such as venous malformations, arterial malformations, capillary malformations (port wine stains), and lymphatic malformations. The team is made up of specialists from the following divisions at Children’s Hospital:
Referral Requirements
Referrals can be made by pediatricians, primary care physicians, obstetricians, other health professionals, parents, and patients. Please contact the team coordinator at 412-692-8942.
Our Physicians and Staff
Children’s Hospital provides a coordinated team approach to the child’s vascular lesion. When a referral is made to the center, the coordinator determines which specialists are best suited to meet the child’s needs. The team completes a full evaluation and determines whether further testing is needed. The plan is communicated to the family as well as to the referring physician during and after the visit. The team coordinator works to coordinate the care of the patient by answering questions, making appointments, and coordinating any necessary diagnostic tests.
Children are seen in the Pediatric Plastic Surgery Clinic at Children’s.
