Biography Summary
Kalyani Vats, MD, is a member of the Division of Neonatology and Developmental Biology and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Vats received her MBBS in medicine at VSS Medical College, and her MD degree in pediatrics at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in Minneapolis, and her fellowship in neonatology at Magee-Womens Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Vats is the director of Triage and Antenatal consult services, at Magee-Womens Hospital. She also provides consultation to the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center at Magee-Womens Hospital and coordinates prenatal consults. In addition to her clinical and teaching duties, Dr. Vats is interested in outcome of extremely premature infants and she especially focuses in periviability issues. She is also involved in several clinical investigations, including, Multiple Dose Pharmacokinetic Study of Meropenem in Young infants, Enteral nutrition during indomethacin or ibuprofen treatment of a patent ductus arteriosus and TEDDY study (The environmental determinants of diabetes in the young).
