Our Services
Behavioral Science Division / Pediatric Behavioral Health Programs
Description of Services
The Behavioral Science Division of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC offers specialized programs and services for treating children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral or emotional difficulties in different settings and across the developmental span.
Our experienced multidisciplinary team provides evidence-based therapies tailored to each child’s and family’s needs. Our experts promote the integration of high-quality mental health services into the medical home.
Our services are provided to patients in conjunction with the child’s medical care. Our clinicians provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disorders. These specialists work with families to provide a comprehensive evaluation and a treatment plan. Treatment options include education, supportive psychotherapy, relaxation training, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychopharmacology when indicated. Family focused care is a key component of our mission.
Outpatient services are provided by the Child and Family Counseling Center (CFCC) and at many Children’s Community Pediatrics (CCP) practices. CFCC staff members have experience providing cognitive-behavioral, individual and family-focused therapies for:
- Anxiety/fears/worries
- Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder
- Chronic illness and behavioral medicine
- Defiance and acting-out behaviors
- Depression or problems with mood disorders
- Loss and grief
- Obsessive-compulsive behaviors
For more information about these services, please contact your child’s medical team or follow links on this page.
At our main hospital campus, medically hospitalized children and adolescents may receive adjunct integrated behavioral health care from the Pediatric Behavioral Health Consultation and Liaison Service.
In addition, Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic services are embedded within several Children’s Hospital divisions. For more information about these services, please contact your child’s medical team or follow links on this page.
