Nutritional Support Service
Description of Services
The Nutritional Support Service is a multidisciplinary team consisting of a physician director, nutritional support nurse, dietitians and a pharmacist. Team members work collectively to monitor and advise on the nutritional management of all patients on total parenteral nutrition (PN). This includes assessment of nutritional status and determination of specific nutritional needs based on metabolic monitoring. If requested by the primary care physician, management of PN can be undertaken solely by the Nutritional Support Service.
Referral Requirements
Referrals are required from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician. All necessary referral and authorization forms must be received before the patient’s visit. For accurate provider numbers or more information, please call the office number listed.
