Rehabilitation Services
Description of Services
Children’s Rehabilitation Services provides comprehensive, coordinated services to infants, children and adolescents with neuromuscular and multiple disabilities. Multidisciplinary evaluation and follow-along are provided in the Cerebral Palsy and Related Disorders Program, through regional outreach efforts and by appointment in the Children's Rehabilitation Services office.
The multidisciplinary team incorporates:
- Clinical social work
- Nursing
- Occupational therapy
- Orthopaedics
- Physical therapy
- Physiatry
- Speech/language therapy
Neurologic consultation also is available as needed. Clinical evaluations, testing, equipment and bracing evaluation, prescription and referral services are provided.
Physician consultations are available for Children’s Hospital inpatients and Benedum Pediatric Trauma Program patients. Physicians also provide physiatric care in the Muscular Dystrophy, Spasticity and Spina Bifida clinics. Individual physiatry office appointments also are available.
Referral Requirements
Referrals are accepted from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician. All necessary referral and authorization forms must be received before the patient’s visit. For accurate provider numbers or more information, please call the office number listed.
