Foundation Board of Trustees Announces New Executive Vice President of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation announced today the appointment of Kimberley J. Hammer to executive vice president of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

In this role, she will oversee the Foundation’s day-to-day operations and will continue to advance the Foundation’s capital campaign for the new $625 million hospital building project in Lawrenceville.

Hammer comes to Children’s Foundation from The Pittsburgh Foundation, where she has worked since 1994 and most recently as the vice president for Development and Donor Services. Hammer was responsible for the oversight and strategic planning of fund-raising efforts, donor stewardship, special events, volunteer activities and more. She also supervised all aspects of outreach to professional advisors, prospects and current donors.

“We are very excited to have someone of Kimberley’s experience, and commitment to the region, join our team. Her passion for connecting donors with the critical needs of the Pittsburgh community will go hand-in-hand with our mission,” said Catharine Ryan, chair, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation Board of Trustees. “The role of our Foundation is to ensure that the funds raised advance the mission for the children cared for by the hospital. Kimberley will be a great addition to help the Foundation continue these important efforts.”

She received her degree in Spanish from the Ohio Wesleyan University and her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Prior to her working for The Pittsburgh Foundation, Hammer was an attorney with Buchanan Ingersoll Professional Corporation.

Hammer is a member of a wide variety of boards and councils including the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh and the Executive Women’s Council, to name a few.

Hammer resides in Swissvale, with her husband Ted and twin boys Blake and Trent.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation is a public charity and is the sole fund-raising arm of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The Foundation exists to provide financial support for the hospital’s mission of excellence in pediatric care, medical education and research.
