Children's Community Pediatrics Brings Nationally Renowned Pediatrician to Pittsburgh to Teach Parents How to Speak Toddler-ese

 

WHO: Harvey Karp, MD, a nationally renowned expert on child development for 28 years and an author and lecturer, will bring his expertise to hundreds of parents of infants and toddlers from western Pennsylvania.

WHAT: Children's Community Pediatrics, a group of pediatric practices affiliated with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Karp at the Children's Museum. Net proceeds from the talk will benefit the Child Advocacy Center at Children's.

Dr. Karp is the author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block. His talk will focus on Toddler-ese, an approach to communicating with children he developed that helps minimize the incidence and magnitude of tantrums.

WHY: Dr. Karp's books have helped hundreds of thousands of parents across the world control their children's crying and tantrums. Combining his educational background with studies that he completed independently, Dr. Karp formed a method of child care focusing on the child's needs that allows parent's to better communicate, understand and care for toddlers and infants.

Dr. Karp has appeared on popular television shows including, Good Morning America, Dr. Phil Show, MSNBC, ABC World News Tonight, The View, CNN and Lifetime Channel. In addition, his work has been featured in numerous magazines such as Time, Newsweek and People Magazine. His teachings have reached parents nationwide.

Dr. Karp received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and chose pediatrics after working with children in a South Bronx hospital. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the UCLA School of Medicine.
