Open House for Primary Care Center Turtle Creek – New Site Offers Expert Services for the Whole Family From Children’s and UPMC
Pittsburgh, Pa. -
August 18, 2008
-
WHO: Sanjay Lambore, MD, medical director of pediatric services
Primary Care Center Turtle Creek
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
WHAT: An open house to introduce residents of Pittsburgh’s eastern communities to the Primary Care Center Turtle Creek, a new center that will offer expert services for the entire family in one location. There will be children’s activities and prizes, free adult blood pressure screenings, light refreshments and giveaways (while supplies last) during the open house.
At the center, kids will be seen by staff and physicians from the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital, and adults will be seen by staff and physicians from UPMC General Internal Medicine.
The center, located in Penn Plaza, is accessible by public transportation, offers free parking and accepts most major health insurance plans. Services include preventive medical care, chronic illness evaluation and treatment, urgent care, same-day appointments for sick children, advice by telephone, reproductive health services for adolescents and a Family Support Center (which includes a play area and help with breastfeeding).
WHY: The center is a partnership between Children’s Hospital and UPMC General Internal Medicine. It will offer busy families expert services with the convenience of one location and having appointments at the same time. The center is located at the site of Children’s former Primary Care Center, which has been expanded. There are expanded services for pediatrics and new services for adults, so kids and adults can receive their primary medical care at the same time.
