Children’s Hospital CEO Roger Oxendale To Be Honored by Arthritis Foundation at Annual Gala

Tickets to event are $200 each and are available through Arthritis Foundation


 

WHAT: Roger A. Oxendale, CEO of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and president of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, will be honored by the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, during the organization’s 26th annual Testimonial Dinner and Gala. The Arthritis Foundation is recognizing Oxendale for his commitment to children and families from throughout western Pennsylvania afflicted with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and pediatric conditions.

Under Oxendale’s leadership, Children’s Hospital has established one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric rheumatology programs in the United States, led by Raphael Hirsch, MD. The division’s six full-time faculty and a support team of medical specialists provide communities in western Pennsylvania and beyond with patient care of the highest quality for a wide range of conditions, basic and clinical research to develop new and better therapies and comprehensive educational opportunities to train the next generation of pediatric rheumatologists.

WHY: Proceeds from this event will support research and programs for people with arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation’s Western Pennsylvania Chapter provides services to more than 10,000 people each year. They provide educational materials on various forms of the disease, medications and other treatment options. Community education programs also help people learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of the disease early and encourage prompt treatment to limit disability from arthritis.

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 (formal attire required)
Cocktail reception is at 5:45 p.m.; dinner at 7 p.m.; and music and cash bar at 9 p.m.
