"Dine to Donate" at Regional Applebee's and Benefit Families at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
Pittsburgh, Pa. -
November 1, 2006
-
WHO: 15 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar locations in the region.
WHAT: On Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, people will have the opportunity to donate 15 percent of their Applebee's bill towards Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation's Pennies from Heaven fund. The fund-raising event is part of Apple American Group's (AAG) "Dining to Donate" program.
Applebee's also will have Children's pin-ups, note cards and bracelets on sale at participating restaurants leading up to the event, with proceeds going to the fund.
WHY: Children's Pennies from Heaven fund was created by Jon and Joni Perry after their son was admitted to Children's. The fund's purpose is to ease the financial hardship on families with children admitted to Children's so that parents can be with their sons and daughters in the hospital.
Each of the four programs offered by Pennies from Heaven focuses on a different area of concern including daily expenses, travel expenses, assistance for siblings and more. Pennies from Heaven is supported solely by charitable contributions.
Applebee's goal is to contribute $25,000 to Pennies from Heaven. Nationwide, AAG donates about $1 million and 500,000 associate hours annually helping communities. "Dining to Donate" is one of many programs designed to help schools, clubs and other non-profit organizations.
