Allegheny County Council Will Honor Shoeshiner For Nearly 25 Years of Support of Children’s Hospital Patients

WHO: Albert Lexie, shoeshiner and philanthropist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
WHAT: On Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m., members of Allegheny County Council will issue a proclamation honoring Albert for his philanthropic achievements on behalf of patients at Children’s.
By shining shoes and donating his tips over the last 24 years, Lexie has raised more than $113,000 in support of the Free Care Fund at Children’s. The fund ensures that all patients receive the best medical care possible, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
