The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is the largest, most comprehensive pediatric cancer and blood disease center in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Hematology/Oncology faculty and staff provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents with all forms of childhood cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other blood-related diseases. Children’s Hematology/Oncology Division also has highly specialized and nationally recognized treatment teams in place to care for children with brain tumors and patients who require bone marrow and stem cell transplantation.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has been a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), a multi-institutional pediatric cancer research organization sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, since 1961. The COG is comprised of experts from around the country who are dedicated to improving the knowledge and treatment of childhood cancer. Many of Children’s physicians hold key positions in the COG and are active in developing new cancer treatment strategies. Membership in this prestigious organization allows Children’s to offer state-of-the-art therapy to children with all forms of childhood cancer.
