Benefits & Perks

The Pediatric Residency Program also contains numerous social components. Many activities are available at no cost to residents through the Resident Ticket Fund. Tickets are available to all of Pittsburgh’s major cultural and sporting events, including Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins games; the Civic Light Opera; the Pittsburgh Symphony; and the Pittsburgh Ballet.

Pediatric residents at Children’s Hospital also enjoy the added benefits of a book/travel allowance and free access to many University of Pittsburgh facilities. All Children’s Hospital residents and fellows have access to recreational facilities and sporting events at the University of Pittsburgh. Access to a University gym, racquetball courts, and swimming pool is free.

Each year, interns also enjoy a two-day retreat at a recreational site away from the hospital. The purposes of the retreat are to enhance mutual support and camaraderie and to encourage reflection on the goals and purposes of the training program.
