Construction Updates

Summer 2008

Main Hospital Building

• Sidewalks around the campus are 60 percent complete. Work continues along Garwood Way.
• Work on the elevators is nearing completion. Testing began in June.
• Drywall installation is substantially complete.
• Ceiling framing and ceiling tile installation continue throughout the building.
• Ceramic tile in the restrooms is 90 percent complete. Tiling the kitchen floor has started and will be complete by July 2008.
• Carpet and sheet flooring installation continue. Carpet is installed in areas on levels 5 through 9.
• Casework installation continues on levels 1 thru 3.
• Wall rail installation is progressing on levels 8 and 9 and in the basement.
• Ceiling work in the sixth floor atrium is substantially complete. Work has begun on the Howard Hanna Healing Garden.
• Johnson Controls is installing nurse call, security, fire alarm and phone systems/devices throughout the building.
• Trees have been delivered to the site to begin street-level landscaping.

Central Plant

• Construction is substantially complete. Minor work and testing will continue throughout the summer and early fall.

John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center and North Garage

• Site grading and site concrete installation have started around the North Garage.
• The loading dock area has been completed and is being used for campus deliveries.
• Brick veneer work is continuing on the west elevation.
• Exterior building cladding work is substantially complete.
• Interior work is nearing completion. Flooring and casework are almost complete on the lab floors. Interior work continues on levels 1 to 4. All work is scheduled to be substantially complete by July 7, 2008. Punch list work and commissioning work will continue into late August.

Faculty Pavilion

Exterior cladding work is complete on this pedestrian bridge linking offices in the Faculty Pavilion to the main hospital building.

• All exterior cladding work is complete, including the cladding of the bridge connecting the Pavilion to the Main Hospital.
• All interior work is substantially complete. This includes all of the furniture systems.
• Life safety and elevator testing are ongoing.

Administrative Office Building

• Painting, flooring and ceilings are proceeding on levels 6 thru 4.  Casework installation has started on these upper floors.
• Prime and first coat of paint proceeding on levels 3 and 2.
• Drywall installation continues on level 1.
• This building is progressing to be substantially complete by July 30, 2008.
