Epilepsy Brain Study

Protocol Description

Miya Asato, MD, of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is studying how childhood epilepsy affects the developing brain.

Eligibility Criteria

The research team is looking for children ages 8 - 17 with epilepsy to participate in one or two sessions.
Boys: ages 8 to 17
Girls: ages 8 to 17

Requirements
The first session involves measurement of eye movements while looking at lights, computer tasks, and interview (2 ½ to 3 hours). The second session involves functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) while performing cognitive and eye movement tasks. Total time including training is 2–3 hours.

All participants will be compensated for their time.
