2. Health Insurance: The standard health insurance plan for the trainee and his/her eligible dependent(s) is Advantage HMO with standard vision and is provided at no cost to the trainee. There is also the option of the Open Access PPO which is available at cost to the trainee. Both plans offer the Enhanced Vision Option at an additional cost to the trainee.
3. Dental Insurance: There are two plans offered to trainees through United Concordia Companies, Inc. (UCCI). The standard plan is provided at no cost to the trainee only, and family option is available at cost to the trainee. A premium plan option is available for a minimal contribution.
4. Vacation: Three weeks of vacation and one week of conference time.
5. Parking: Parking near the hospital is at cost to fellows.
6. Life Insurance: Life insurance coverage is provided to the nearest $1,000 above the annual salary and includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment. The option to purchase Supplemental Life Insurance, as well as Life Insurance for the trainee's spouse and children are available at a minimal cost to the trainee.
7. Disability Insurance: Paid short-term disability of up to 26 weeks of complete disability is provided. The trainee must provide proof that (s)he is disabled and under the care of a physician.
Long-term disability insurance coverage also is provided.
8. Professional Liability Insurance: Coverage is provided in accordance with Pennsylvania state mandated levels of coverage by Tri-Century Insurance.
9. Additional Benefits: Pediatric fellows at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC enjoy the added benefit of a book/travel allowance and have access to recreational facilities and sporting events at the University of Pittsburgh. Access to the university’s gym, racquetball courts and swimming pool are free.
