Heart Camp

"I enjoy being a Heart Camp counselor. The other kids see me and it gives them hope that, even though they have heart problems, they can grow up and live a happy, active life.” “Attending Heart Camp every year is like coming home to friends and family that genuinely care about you and are truly concerned for your well being.” |
June 11–15, 2013
Heart Camp registration closed on Friday May 3rd. Please email the Camp Coordinator, Keith McIntire, at keith.mcintire@chp.edu to see if there are any available spaces.
What Is Heart Camp?
Each year, more than 150 children ages 8-16 with heart conditions come from across the United States and Canada to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Camp Kon-O-Kwee, a YMCA camp in Fombell, Pa. (near Zelienople).
Campers are encouraged to make new friends, share their experiences, and participate in sports and other camp activities to the best of their abilities, without fear of being judged by others.
Physicians, social workers, nurses and other members of the Children's Hospital staff, as well as the camp director and associate director, supervise activities throughout the four-day weekend. Campers also have the opportunity to discuss issues and concerns related to their disease with their doctors, nurses, and peers. Learn More »
