Immune Markers in Normal Blood
Normal Human Subjects for Immune Assay Development
Protocol Description
This study is being done to determine the range of immune markers found in blood and blood cells in normal healthy individuals. Immune markers are proteins that determine our ability to resist harmful agents such as bacteria and other foreign substances. Because this natural process can also cause rejection of transplanted organs, it is important to study immune function. Researchers plan to use measurements obtained through the study as reference that can compare to measurements from individuals who have had transplants.
Eligibility Criteria
Subject to screening criteria, males and females ages 18 and up who have never had an organ transplant are eligible.
Males: Age 18 and older
Females: Age 18 and older
Requirements
Participants will donate blood samples monthly as needed for the study. Samples can be drawn at the outpatient laboratory at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC or other UPMC facility.
Visits: Up to 60
Duration: Up to 5 years
