Insects
Don’t be bugged by bugs! Here are a few things you can do to avoid being bitten or stung when you play outside:
- Wear lotions or oils that drive away bugs when you go outside.
- Wear clothes that cover your arms and legs. Tuck your pants into your socks.
- Be careful at picnics with sweet foods and drinks that attract bees and wasps.
- Wear shoes outside in the grass in case you step on a bee.
- Stay away from beehives and wasp nests.
- Don’t wave your hands at bees or wasps. It makes them angry. Stand still and they should just go away.
- Be careful near woodpiles, sheds, dark corners of the garage and other places spiders may call home.
- If you are bitten or stung, tell an adult right away.
