David LaCovey, NREMT-P
EMS Coordinator

David LaCovey, NREMT-P, is EMS coordinator at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. His responsibilities include reviewing medical patients’ prehospital records, coordinating Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) programs, coordinating the hospital’s paramedic student clinical program and education programs for both hospital staff and prehospital care providers. He acts as a liaison to regional medical facilities, EMS services, and EMS training facilities. As a nationally registered paramedic with more than 20 years experience in rescue and EMS, Mr. LaCovey was a crew chief for the City of Pittsburgh EMS prior to coming to Children’s Hospital. He is an instructor for the University of Pittsburgh EMS Degree Program, teaching the Medical III program regarding OB/GYN, neonatal, and pediatric emergencies. Mr. LaCovey is a PALS regional faculty member, a BTLS and ACLS instructor, and BCLS instructor trainer.
