Our Services
Cardiac MRI
Cardiac MRI services available at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Division of Pediatric Cardiology/Heart Center produce remarkably clear and detailed images using radiofrequency waves and a strong magnetic field. This means our physicians are able to peer inside the chest wall of young patients without having to introduce catheters or expose them to radiation, as they might with other, more traditional imaging techniques.
The information these images provide is vital to the evaluation and management of pediatric heart disease.
A look at the heart from every angle
With cardiac MRI, our physicians are able to examine anatomic structures in detail, including rotating pictures of a child’s heart and vessels. Advanced cardiac MRI techniques also provide us with studies that reveal cardiac output, flow volume and velocity and other indicators of how a child’s heart and vessels are functioning.
More expertise, less risk
At Children’s Heart Center, we combine the expertise and experience of our pediatric radiologists with advanced equipment and software to offer a full range of cardiac MRI studies, providing medical experts the images and information they need, while exposing their patients to less risk and discomfort.
