Robert McLafferty, NREMT—P, is the pre-hospital trauma coordinator for the Benedum Pediatric Trauma Program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. His responsibilities include reviewing pre-hospital records of all the admitted trauma patients, offering educational classes within the hospital and to the community and maintaining relationships with area hospitals and ambulance services. Rob is a nationally registered paramedic. He has over 11 years of experience in Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services. For the 4 years prior to joining the Benedum Pediatric Trauma Program, he has worked for Butler Memorial Hospital. During his years at Butler, he worked both as a Response Team Paramedic and an Outreach Coordinator.

Rob still continues to stay active in Emergency Medical Services by flying as a casual Flight Paramedic with STAT MedEvac. He is also still active as a line officer/rescue captain in his local fire department. As an instructor for various programs including Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Trauma and Life Support (BTLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), he is happy to offer educational programs throughout the region.
