Biography Summary
Dr. Mendelson was raised in upstate New York. He first came to Pittsburgh in 1981 as an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Mendelson was both a University Scholar and a Provost’s scholar. It was at the university where he met his wife Jill.
Dr. Mendelson completed his medical training and residency in Chicago. He then moved to Seattle for fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
After completing his education he became the first pediatric orthopaedic surgeon in Youngstown, Ohio. As the Director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Tod Children’s Hospital he developed a busy clinical practice.
In 1997, an opportunity to return to the University of Pittsburgh became available and Dr. Mendelson joined the staff at Children’s Hospital in August of that year.
Dr. Mendelson, his wife and their two children live in O’Hara Township. When not at work, Dr. Mendelson enjoys spending time with his children, as well as exercising and boating.
