Menstrual Symptoms of Girls with Autism

Protocol Description

This is an anonymous online survey about menstrual symptoms in girls with autism spectrum disorder, such as autism, Asperger’s Disorder, Rett’s Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, etc. Through it, researchers hope to learn more about this population’s experiences with menstruation so as to improve the body of knowledge with regard to autism spectrum disorder.

Eligibility Criteria

This study is open to the parents/guardians of females, ages 10 to 25, who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and who menstruate. A computer with Internet access is necessary.

Requirements
Parents/guardians need to link to www.surveymonkey.com/asdperiods for the 15- to 20-minute survey. They will be prompted to answer a series of questions relating to their daughter’s autism and menstrual history, hygiene and the physical, psychological and social impact of her menstrual cycles.
