Newly Diagnosed Hodgkin Disease Study

Treatment of Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Hodgkin Disease

Protocol Description

This randomized Phase III multi-center clinical trial is studying different chemotherapy regimens given with or without radiation therapy to compare how well they work in treating children with newly diagnosed Hodgkin disease. The study seeks to determine whether patients who respond very well to chemotherapy can avoid radiation without losing any benefit. It will also study alternate chemotherapy regimens.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible candidates include boys and girls under the age of 21 with Hodgkin disease.
Boys: Up to age 21
Girls: Up to age 21

Requirements
All participants begin with two 21-day cycles of anti-cancer drugs. After completing these cycles, participants will be placed in either the “slow-early responders” group or “rapid-early responders” group. These groups prescribe different combinations of additional chemotherapy that may or may not include radiotherapy.
Visits: Minimum of four 21-day cycles
Duration: Dependent on response to treatment. Participants’ health will be monitored for several years after treatment.

Status: Open for Enrollment
