Oakland Road Construction Projects

Major road construction projects, in or near Oakland, are underway.  Delays are likely traveling to and from Oakland due to lane restrictions and detours. Please allow extra time when traveling to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Oakland campus, physicians’ offices, clinics and other health care facilities. Below is an update on construction projects.

Boulevard of the Allies bridge construction causes 11-month road closure

Beginning Jan. 3, 2008, through Nov. 2008, the Boulevard of the Allies will be closed from the ramp to the eastbound Parkway East (I-376) to McDevitt Place (near Hampton Inn and the Pittsburgh Playhouse). Traffic traveling eastbound on the Boulevard (from Pittsburgh toward Oakland) will be forced to exit onto I-376 and take the Forbes Avenue exit. Traffic traveling westbound (toward downtown Pittsburgh) will be detoured around the construction site.

All roads into Oakland are busy. Expect traffic congestion on any alternate route. Traffic leaving Oakland should not be affected.

Get driving directions during detour.
