Sickle Cell Program
Children’s Hospital is the only medical center in western Pennsylvania that provides comprehensive care for pediatric patients with sickle cell disease. The Sickle Cell Program within the Hematology/Oncology Division is a state-funded center for care of children with sickle cell disease. The results of all newborn sickle cell screening tests performed throughout the region are sent to experts at Children’s Hospital.
