Transplant Hepatology Fellowship

Pediatric Liver Transplant Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the Abdominal Organ Transplant Service offers a one-year fellowship in an ACGME-accredited program that meets the requirements for certificate of added qualification in Pediatric Liver Transplant Medicine.

The program provides advanced clinical training in Pediatric Hepatology and Pediatric Liver Transplant Medicine for individuals who have completed a three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology.  Clinical training is provided in the context of an active Pediatric Hepatology Program and one of the busiest Pediatric Liver Transplant Programs in the United States. Additional depth is provided by complementary programs in Pathology, Interventional Radiology and Medical Genetics.

The one year training program is primarily focused on inpatient and outpatient clinical activities related to Pediatric Liver Transplantation including management of end-stage liver disease, assessment of transplant candidacy, and perioperative, short-term and long-term postoperative care of liver transplant recipients.  Opportunities exist for exposure to and participation in academic activities that take advantage of a rich environment in basic, clinical and translational investigations in Liver Disease in Children and Organ Transplantation. Additional training is available through a number of joint conferences that exist in collaboration with the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
