Non-Rhabdomyosarcoma Soft Tissue Sarcomas
Risk-Based Treatment for Pediatric Non-Rhabdomyosarcoma Soft Tissue Sarcomas
Protocol Description
The purpose of this multi-center Phase III trial is to assess the treatment necessary for patients diagnosed with a rare tumor called non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma. Upon designation of a “risk group,” based on the features on the tumor, patients will be placed in an appropriate treatment arm where procedures appropriate for that risk level will be administered. Treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. This study is being done to determine if treatment based on risk level will eliminate the tumor, and if lessening the treatment for lower risk patients will decrease treatment side effects while still eliminating the tumor.
Eligibility Criteria
This multi-center group study accepts male and female candidates under age 29 who have been diagnosed with non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma.
Boys: All ages
Girls: All ages
Requirements
Based upon which treatment plan the patient is placed into, participants will undergo surgery to remove the tumor along with possible radiation and chemotherapy. All patients will undergo standard medical and organ function tests throughout the length of this study.
Visits: Number of visits is variable depending on the patient’s response; some treatments may require hospitalization.
Duration: Up to 26 weeks, with participants’ health monitored for an additional 5 years
Status: Open for Enrollment
