Type 2 Diabetes Youth Study
Protocol Description
The purpose of this study is to evaluate why children develop Type 2 diabetes and if they have blood vessel problems.
Eligibility Criteria
Type 2 diabetes, healthy overweight children, and overweight children at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes will be enrolled. Patients shall have been diagnosed with diabetes for 0 to 7 years.
Boys: 10 to 20 years
Girls: 10 to 20 years
Requirements
A screening interview, and physical exam will be administered. The actual study involves blood tests, body composition and carotid ultrasound.
Duration: 2 visits (overnight)
