About Your First Visit
The diagnosis of sensorineural hearing loss is established using comprehensive audiologic testing. During the first visit to the Hearing Center, each child is evaluated by the program director and, as needed, by specialists by the following Children's Hospital divisions and departments:
- Audiology
- Biofeedback
- Diagnostic Referral Service
- Genetics
- Laboratory Medicine
- Neurology
- Ophthalmology
- Otolaryngology
- Radiology
- Speech Therapy
Because of this comprehensive evaluation, children are seen at Children's Hospital's main campus in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. The time required for your child’s first visit will vary according to the number of appointments scheduled for that day. Please try to arrive at least 20–30 minutes before your child's first appointment. If you are unable to keep your child’s scheduled appointment, please call the office at least 24 hours in advance to cancel.
