Cerebral Palsy and Related Disorders

Description of Services

The Cerebral Palsy and Related Disorders Department provides comprehensive, coordinated services to infants, children and young adults with neuromuscular and multiple disabilities under the auspices of Children's Rehabilitation Services. Clinical evaluations, testing, equipment and bracing evaluation, and prescription and referral services are provided. Multidisciplinary evaluation and follow-up evaluations are provided on a regular basis.

The multidisciplinary team incorporates physiatry, orthopaedics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, nursing and clinical social work. The Division of Child Neurology also is available on a consulting basis. The team assists families in establishing the provision of appropriate local services for their children. Recommendations are made to the child's ongoing program, and home instructions are given as necessary. Team summaries are provided to primary caregivers and community service providers to enhance coordination of services and care.

Neighborhood Locations

Four rural off-site clinic locations have been established to provide local multidisciplinary services to children in Uniontown, Indiana, Beaver and New Castle. Please contact the program to assist in determining the most appropriate site for an individual child's needs and for scheduling information.

Referral Requirements

Referrals are required from primary care physicians or other Children's Hospital specialty services. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician. All necessary referral and authorization forms must be received before the patient's visit. For accurate provider numbers or more information, please call the office number listed.
