Fifth Annual Pittsburgh Conference on Child Maltreatment: Working Towards Hope and Healing

The Fifth Annual Conference promises another exciting two days of educational sessions and networking. Thursday, April 29, 2010 will feature plenary sessions with a keynote address, networking luncheon, awards ceremony and afternoon workshops. Friday will feature the opportunity to attend one of several full-day skill-building institutes.

Featuring

  • Plenary speaker and nationally known lecturer Carole Jenny, MD, MBA, Director of the Child Protection Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, author and internationally known expert in child abuse prevention and treatment
  • Presentation of the 2010 Champion of Hope and Healing awards
  • A second full day of specialty skill-building institutes 
  • Workshops and institutes will include sessions on the medical evaluation of child maltreatment, the relationship between attachment and neurobiology and the juvenile court system, the role of culture in case planning and permanency decisions, forensic interviewing, internet child maltreatment crimes, criminal investigation of child abuse, “medical child abuse” and testifying in court – tips and tricks
  • Continuing Education Units for many disciplines will be available.

For our out of town guests, a special conference rate of $109 (plus applicable taxes and fees) per night is available at the brand new Spring Hill Suites by Marriott, beside the conference center at 2950 Southwater Street, Pittsburgh, Pa 15203.  Please note that this special rate is only available for April 28-30, 2010, and that rooms must be booked by April 26, 2010.To receive this rate, do not book your room online. Scholarship Availability

To aid our out-of-town attendees with travel and registration costs:

The Office for Victims of Crime  Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of Professional Development Scholarships for state, local, and community-based victim service providers to attend the Fifth Annual Conference on Hope and Healing.  In support of those professionals seeking continuing education opportunities, the Program provides up to $1,000 for individuals and up to $5,000 for multidisciplinary teams.  Funding is limited, and applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements.
