Description of Services

Hospitality and the Information Desk provide services for patients, families and visitors, including but not limited to:

  • Directions and maps to the hospital, ambulatory care centers and frequently used area highways
  • Directions to various areas within the hospital
  • Door assistance
  • Flower and gift delivery to child’s room (based on staffing)
  • Visitor passes and access cards
  • Transportation arrangements to and from Ronald McDonald House and to and from hospital appointments
  • Wheelchairs
  • Amenity bags and brown bag lunches
  • Books for waiting rooms
  • Accept donations for Child Life and other departments
  • Parking cashier
  • Car seat loans (availability dependent upon supply)

Family Resource Specialist/Coordinator
The family resource specialist/coordinator addresses the practical needs of families by coordinating transportation and accommodations in and around the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. The coordinator oversees request for 7th floor critical care parent sleeping rooms and serves as hospital liaison for Ronald McDonald House and Family House. The hospitality coordinator assists with transportation issues on a case-by-case basis via local bus and taxi service. Families requiring meal assistance can get free bag lunches, which they can pick up from the 1st or 3rd floor Information Desks. Each bag lunch has a sandwich, a piece of fruit and drink. Funding for these services is provided through the Family Support Fund, also known as the Schneider Fund, and Pennies from Heaven.

Monday – Friday

7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday
