About Children's
Media Relations Policies
Here at Children’s Hospital of Pittsbugh of UPMC, we coordinate thousands of news stories with local, regional, and national media.
To welcome and handle the media to Children’s Hospital, our Media Relations team has established the following guidelines to arrange interviews and/or photo opportunities with our staff, patients, and families.
- Please call or email our Media Relations team to arrange all interviews or photo opportunities with any member of the Children's staff, our patients and families.
- Media is asked to use the complete name of our facility – Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC – when used in a print or broadcast story.
- We know that news is very timely, but we must have advance notice of any on-site interviews so we can arrange for the proper patient, family member, or staff member to be available and can notify other areas (patient floors, parking, public safety) that media will be at the campus.
- A member of the Media Relations team must accompany all reporters, video crews, and photographers on the Children’s campus.
- Photos or videos may not be taken of the patients without consent from Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and the parent or guardian.
- Remember you are in a working and busy children’s hospital. Please be sensitive to the surroundings and of the noise level out of consideration for the medical staff and patients who are in their rooms.
- To find out how to get to Children’s, please check out our Directions page.
