Nutrition Department, Clinical
Description of Services
The Clinical Nutrition Department staff assists physicians in monitoring the nutritional status of all patients. Registered dietitians with master’s degrees and/or advanced training in pediatric nutrition make up the department. Clinical dietitians identify patients at nutritional risk and plan nutrition intervention as needed. This function includes the education of families who are taking their child home on a modified diet and monitoring patients receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition. In addition, clinical dietitians can provide physicians with diagnostic information on children with poor growth, feeding problems and/or eating concerns.
