Our Services

Occupational Therapy

Description of Services

The Occupational Therapy Department provides comprehensive services to assist infants, children and adolescents with their daily living skills, including fine motor activities, dressing, feeding, etc. Licensed occupational therapists with expertise in pediatrics work with the child and family to develop goals that optimize the child’s functional abilities with his or her daily living skills. All children referred to the department receive an individual assessment to identify impairments and limitations that interfere with the child’s functional skills. A treatment plan with individualized goals is developed in collaboration with child and family.

Pediatric occupational therapists at Children’s assess and provide treatment services for children with diagnoses such as:

  • amputation
  • arthritis
  • autism
  • developmental delay
  • feeding disorders
  • hand injuries
  • neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, brain tumor, traumatic brain injury
  • visual motor and/or visual perceptual impairments

Treatment interventions are individualized and include a variety of methods and modalities that incorporate current theories and equipment that optimizes patient progress and outcomes.
