Meet the Congenital Ear Center Team

Director
Robert F. Yellon, MD
The director of the CEC is the ear surgeon, Robert F. Yellon, MD. Dr. Yellon is the director of clinical services for the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and professor of Otolaryngology, Department of Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Yellon has been at Children’s Hospital for more than 20 years and has extensive experience with medical and surgical management of these ear conditions. He is active in patient care, teaching of residents and fellows, and research, and also has published and lectured widely in these areas.
In the Congenital Ear Center, Dr. Yellon does the surgical ear reconstruction, as well as the medical management, for children with these conditions.

Julie Hauser, MS, CCC-A
Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
Julie Hauser, MS, CCC-A, is the coordinator of the Amplification Program in the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at Children's Hospital, where she has worked for 30 years. Her particular interest is fitting young children with hearing aids. Ms. Hauser has worked with many of Dr. Yellon’s patients in the Congenital Ear Center. She says, "It has been rewarding and challenging to help these children obtain hearing aids and to provide them with support in maintaining their hearing aids." In addition to performing hearing assessments and hearing aid evaluation, she supervises students from the University of Pittsburgh.
