Teaching Opportunities
The teaching activities of fellows are an important aspect of their training. During periods of clinical service, fellows directly oversee the house staff and medical students caring for pulmonology patients on the pediatric wards. Bedside teaching is part and parcel of this responsibility. In addition, fellows participate in the house staff teaching conferences and are responsible for preparing talks on a variety of topics in pediatric pulmonology. The divisional journal club, weekly teaching conferences and monthly radiology conferences are other important venues for fellows to hone their teaching skills. The faculty provides feedback to the fellows, offering advice for lecture techniques, graphic aids such as slides, and content of lecture material.
