Treatment Options
Hearing and speaking are critical tools for children. Learning how to do both helps them learn, develop social skills, and thrive. When children have an undiagnosed or untreated hearing loss or disorder, they can have delays in speech and language development as well as social problems and a difficult time in school.
Specialists at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC's Congenital Ear Center determine the optimal treatment on a case-by-case basis depending on the child's size, medical condition, anatomy, and other factors.
Treatment can consist of speech therapy or audiology programs, hearing assistive devices, antibiotics, and/or surgery. Our experts provide diagnosis and treatment options for many congenital and chronic ear conditions, including:
