Triple Board Program (TBP)
Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Our combined training in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry brings together premier programs at the University of Pittsburgh. At the end of training, residents are prepared for board certification in all three fields. Moreover, our trainees are well-rounded physicians who excel in clinical and research careers that address the holistic care of adults and children.
Each year, two Triple Board (TBP) residents join categorical pediatric and psychiatry residents along with combined residents in Med-Peds, Family Medicine-Psychiatry, and Neurology-Pediatrics, amongst other combined residency programs at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate Medical Education Program.
TBP residents will have completed:
- 24 months of pediatrics
- 18 months of general psychiatry
- 18 months of child and adolescent psychiatry
The program provides an integrated educational experience, with graduated responsibility for patient care and teaching as residents advance. Interaction with pediatric and psychiatric resident colleagues and faculty is ongoing through the entirety of training.
A robust triple board alumni presence provides a strong mentoring base and sense of community.
If you have questions regarding our program or the application process, please feel free to contact Abigail Schlesinger, MD, program director, Triple Board Program, at schlesingerab@upmc.edu or 412-246-5320.
