Biography

Chris McKenna is the Manager, Trauma Clinical Services, for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and master’s degrees in nursing from both Boston College and the University of Pittsburgh. Chris is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) as a primary and acute care pediatric nurse practitioner. Her entire career has been dedicated to the care of pediatric surgery and trauma patients.

Chris is responsible for responsible for the care provided to the injured child throughout the continuum of care. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the trauma program and is responsible for its ongoing accreditation as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Additionally, she is President-Elect of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association and Immediate Past Chair of the Pennsylvania Trauma Nurse Advisory Council. She also is a member, and past Co-Chair, of the Pediatric Committee of the Society of Trauma Nurses. Chris is a recipient of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association Founders Award, The Daisy Award For Extraordinary Nurses at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and the UPMC Dignity and Respect Champion Award.
