We love the provider and staff. We do not like the difficulty in scheduling appointments and this visit we waited about 35 minutes in the room to see the doctor.
very informative and easy to talk to. Explained the procedure in-depth.
Dr Simons is very kind & professional, and is an excellent surgeon. my daughter had a quick and painless recovery from the surgery he performed. we couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend him!
I was disappointed in the lack of courtesy or patience the doctor and his staff had with my young son. they never spoke to him directly and seemed to be in a rush to get his surgery scheduled and get us out of there. considering this is a children's hospital office I was disappointed in their care and treatment of my 7 year old.
Provider was dismissive of my concerns about my coverage and that the treatment plan he was suggesting could cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket. My child is healthy and the sleep study he recommended is (after talking with another doctor) in no way urgent or imperative given that my child has no health issues - just large tonsils. Given how awful coverage is these days, doctors must be aware and understanding of patient's insurance/financial situations. "Just in case" treatment is, in many cases, affordable and thus should not be recommended. They should also make themselves aware of the potential costs of treatments in their field.
wONDERFUL DOCTOR - WILL GIVE HIM MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
It was an amazing visit traveled 2 hours to see him because the doctors around my area did not care or have any concern. was squeezed in last minute so my wait time was kinda long In the exam room which I expected I'd gladly travel 2 hours again for the Excellent service my daughter received
Excellent care provided by the staff and Dr.Simmions. I always felt my son was in excellent hands.
we have a very anxious child when it comes to doctor visits. The staff handled it well and were very good with her. our only complaint was the wait times in the office were long, especially with a child who is afraid of the doctors and cries from start to finish.
He was quite condescending. He belittled me for asking honest questions and seeking information and medical advice/opinions from him. This made me feel like I could not trust him. I don't care to schedule future appointments with him.
my daughter has special needs we arrived 15 min early as requested and we were not seen for almost and hour or more after our arrival. I felt as if the doctor was not listening nor trying to understand my confusion about the recommendations of the visit because the visit was scheduled for an entirely different reason nor did anyone care how long we sat and waited.
This staff is awesome from the moment you enter until departure.Dr Simmons and staff are the best and woukd highly recommend him
My son was very overwhelmed and cried a lot, they handled him extremely well.
We were here for a 2nd opinion and I was thoroughly impressed with the care that my child received as opposed to the other office that we had been to. Dr. Simons was awesome, his PA was thorough, and the 2 nurses that we saw were absolutely unbelievable. They took their time, spoke directly to my son, and we felt very confident in his care.
We waited for 2 hours after the appointment time to be seen. I lost a full day of work because of the delay.
Everyone was very understanding of how nervous he was about the possibility of getting a shot.
my child has Down Syndrome! The staff was very helpful and patient with my child.
He is a wonderful doctor and surgeon. Very happy to have him care for my child.
I'm so sick of this provider being so insensitive. He needs to learn some people skills. This is my child, my world. he treated me like an idiot and was so insensitive of my husband and my concerns. We are not doctors, our training is in a different field, so when we ask questions about what we are concerned about, we would appreciate it if we could have some kind of respect towards us.
The appointment was fine. The doctor was quiet (I had to ask him to repeat information a few time) and laid back, so this put us at ease. However, he also didn't seem to have read my daughter's chart. I expected him to have more details about her condition, and not rely mainly on what I told him -- what if I misunderstand or misrepresented? Tubes are routine procedures for doctors and nurses, but not for us. There was acknowledgement of our concern, but it seemed like part of the job. It helped that he shared information about caring for his own children and his worries pertaining to that. I felt comfortable, but not relieved when I left the appointment. I think sometimes parents don't know what to ask...especially when an experience is new. None of this is complaining, but hopefully helpful information to hear. I expect that our experience will be just fine, and surveys don't often capture the middle/upper middle of the spectrum where very poor to very good is the scale.
This was our first meeting. It was a refereal for my daughter from her family MD. I really liked the provider and the staff.
Dr. Simons was very personable and was willing to take my concerns and respond to them even when he was sceptical about them. when I ended up being correct about there being a medical issue with my child he was very respectful and gracious in admitting that he had been sceptical but gave her the test anyway to confirm or rule out her diagnosis. After the diagnosis was made he was great at explaining treatment options for my child.
1st time ever at upmc childrens hospital. all staff was very professional and friendly and went above and beyond to help with all our questions and concerns
I was very impressed with the efficiency of the clinic and staff. also very impressed with dr simons professionalism and expertise.
they was a lot of waiting and with a toddler it made the 3hour visit feel much longer
Dr Simons treated me with respect and understood my concerns and reasoning for getting a second opinion through him about surgery for my child. I want what's best for my child and I truly felt he wanted that too.
Everyone was very nice and made the appointment go well for my son
I found the doctor to be very informative. He took our concerns as parents seriously.
I was very pleased with our visit to see the doctor. It was well worth the 4 hour drive (one way) we had.
we felt unsure after the appointment but Dr Simons must have sensed our concerns because he called us at home that evening to talk more and see if we had any concerns.
I wish that Dr. Simons would slow down a bit when discussing options and care for the child. at times it is hard to keep up and follow what he is saying.
needs to hear our perspectives-- demeaning tone. quick to rush to an answer.
Dr. Simmons is a great doctor. Really like the care and attention my daughter receives from him on every visit. He is always willing to answer any questions and concerns we have.
All staff was very friendly and answered questions immediately. My son actually enjoyed going.
Doctor and nurses were very friendly and caring
i had no bad experience at all. Everything was excellent and we are very happy with Dr Simon.
Dr. Simons was fantastic! Showed so much concern for my daughter and her condition. He made me feel comfortable with his course of treatment.
Dr. Simons is quite possibly the best physician we have ever dealt with.
Prompt, Clean and Efficient. Couldnt have been any better.
I had no problems. Dr Simon was my daughters Doctor. When my son had ear problems I wanted him for my son.
This was the first time seeing the ENT dept and Dr. Simmoms. He was very friendly, patient and kind even with my son being afraid and uncooperative. The Dr and staff helped me to understand what was needed for caring for my son and future steps for taking care of his injury. I would absolutely recommend this dr to everyone I know.
I saw the Nurse Assistant, PA and Doctor. All were wonderful! My daughter never allows anyone to do her height and weight, and with the Nurse she stepped right up for height and weight. She also had her blood pressure taken with no complaints. The Nurse, PA and Doctor all checked her ears, throat, breathing and they were wonderful with her. The doctor was very thorough in my options and in what he wants done to ensure that the proper care is taken.
was our first visit with this provider..overall very pleased with care so far.
staff is respectful and friendly
Everything went very well. Our appointment was at 9 and we had seen the doctor and had our sons procedure scheduled by 9:15. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I have been very happy with Dr Simons and his team. Everyone has treated/responded appropriately to my daughter and has been thorough and friendly with me.
Dr. Simons and his staff are amazing. They are always so friendly.
Dr. Simons and the staff were great. The only thing I can say is that Dr. Simons could have been a little more explanatory with my son. Granted, he's only 2 years old, but I've met doctors who talk to a child to make them feel a bit more comfortable with what is about to happen. My son had a bit of a traumatic scary (for him) scoping procedure performed on his nose and throat, it made him throw up. Even though it needed to be done, maybe if the approach was a bit warmer, my son wouldn't have reacted in such fear. All and all, Dr. Simons and the staff are awesome though and we are very, very appreciative for their help in determining our son's issue. The nursing staff (Kelly and Mary?) were very warm and attentive to my son and this was very appreciative and helpful.
this provider went above on beyond what I thought he would. He was so caring and took the time to understand my worries about my daughters health problem. he even went oh of his way to call the operating room scheduled to get her in for her surgery 3 months earlier then when they were booking due to the major issues we had with UPMC children's emergency department.
I love my team Simon at chop
we love Dr Simmons
Our ENT Doctor Simons is very intelligent and we feel he is the best surgeon. We value his opinion, but feel he needs to relax and try to listen and understand where we are coming from in regard to caring for our child. He is doing better with bedside manner during office visits.
Dr. Simons and the staff went above and beyond for my daughter. They called her GI doctor to make sure we can change her prescription to help with her GERD. They explained everything in great detail and gave clear plans for treatment.
Thank you, Dr Simons! Best ENT!
he was amazing...would highly recommend him
Dr. Simmons takes his time with my daughter and always willing to answer any questions we have.
Excellent doctor very open and honest about everything, explains everything to a T................BEST doctor ever
