Dr. Simons was really thoughtful and thorough. He spent a lot of time asking questions before he started any scopes.

Very thorough and understanding; however, the wait time to be seen was way too long. We had a 9am appointment and weren't seen by Dr. Simon until 10am. Not easy to keep a 15 month old occupied with such a long wait. The time spent with the doctor addressed all of our concerns.
The physician was running really behind and instead of just apologizing for the over 2 hour wait he was very rude about the situation. He tried to explain follow up instructions immediately after the in office procedure which was a poor time to give me information since my daughter was crying and I was unable to hear a word he was saying. The procedure went well which is what is important but just not impressed by his bedside manner on this particular visit.

the doctor pushed to take my son to the OR and didn't like a plan of care less invasive first . Even my 10 yo son he didn't like the doctor when he was telling his grandparents about the visit. the doctor seemed bored with us and that he has a routine protocol he follows for everyone here you ncan ed to just agree with him, not ask any questions or waste his time...not going to happen!
dr simon took the time out to get a speech specialist from the cleft palate clinic to go over the picture of his inside of the nose for more understanding and id recommend this doctor to other,families I wad v rye happy with him n expressed

We were late due to impossible traffic, but everyone still treated us with compassion and saw us as soon as they could.
We had to wait over an hour past our scheduled time to not only see the doctor but to even be called back to the examine room. Other than the wait time the rest of our experience was fantastic.

we waited a very long time to even see the PA. Our appointment was at 1:15 and we arrived a half hour early like requested and we were back in the room before 1. We didn't see anyone else til 2. Then it took the Dr another 15-20 minutes to come in. we were there for over an hour waiting to see the Dr.

Dr Simons is very kind & professional, and is an excellent surgeon. my daughter had a quick and painless recovery from the surgery he performed. we couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend him!
I was disappointed in the lack of courtesy or patience the doctor and his staff had with my young son. they never spoke to him directly and seemed to be in a rush to get his surgery scheduled and get us out of there. considering this is a children's hospital office I was disappointed in their care and treatment of my 7 year old.
Provider was dismissive of my concerns about my coverage and that the treatment plan he was suggesting could cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket. My child is healthy and the sleep study he recommended is (after talking with another doctor) in no way urgent or imperative given that my child has no health issues - just large tonsils. Given how awful coverage is these days, doctors must be aware and understanding of patient's insurance/financial situations. "Just in case" treatment is, in many cases, affordable and thus should not be recommended. They should also make themselves aware of the potential costs of treatments in their field.

It was an amazing visit traveled 2 hours to see him because the doctors around my area did not care or have any concern. was squeezed in last minute so my wait time was kinda long In the exam room which I expected I'd gladly travel 2 hours again for the Excellent service my daughter received

we have a very anxious child when it comes to doctor visits. The staff handled it well and were very good with her. our only complaint was the wait times in the office were long, especially with a child who is afraid of the doctors and cries from start to finish.
He was quite condescending. He belittled me for asking honest questions and seeking information and medical advice/opinions from him. This made me feel like I could not trust him. I don't care to schedule future appointments with him.
my daughter has special needs we arrived 15 min early as requested and we were not seen for almost and hour or more after our arrival. I felt as if the doctor was not listening nor trying to understand my confusion about the recommendations of the visit because the visit was scheduled for an entirely different reason nor did anyone care how long we sat and waited.

We were here for a 2nd opinion and I was thoroughly impressed with the care that my child received as opposed to the other office that we had been to. Dr. Simons was awesome, his PA was thorough, and the 2 nurses that we saw were absolutely unbelievable. They took their time, spoke directly to my son, and we felt very confident in his care.

I'm so sick of this provider being so insensitive. He needs to learn some people skills. This is my child, my world. he treated me like an idiot and was so insensitive of my husband and my concerns. We are not doctors, our training is in a different field, so when we ask questions about what we are concerned about, we would appreciate it if we could have some kind of respect towards us.
This was our first meeting. It was a refereal for my daughter from her family MD. I really liked the provider and the staff.
The appointment was fine. The doctor was quiet (I had to ask him to repeat information a few time) and laid back, so this put us at ease. However, he also didn't seem to have read my daughter's chart. I expected him to have more details about her condition, and not rely mainly on what I told him -- what if I misunderstand or misrepresented? Tubes are routine procedures for doctors and nurses, but not for us. There was acknowledgement of our concern, but it seemed like part of the job. It helped that he shared information about caring for his own children and his worries pertaining to that. I felt comfortable, but not relieved when I left the appointment. I think sometimes parents don't know what to ask...especially when an experience is new. None of this is complaining, but hopefully helpful information to hear. I expect that our experience will be just fine, and surveys don't often capture the middle/upper middle of the spectrum where very poor to very good is the scale.
Dr. Simons was very personable and was willing to take my concerns and respond to them even when he was sceptical about them. when I ended up being correct about there being a medical issue with my child he was very respectful and gracious in admitting that he had been sceptical but gave her the test anyway to confirm or rule out her diagnosis. After the diagnosis was made he was great at explaining treatment options for my child.
1st time ever at upmc childrens hospital. all staff was very professional and friendly and went above and beyond to help with all our questions and concerns
I was very impressed with the efficiency of the clinic and staff. also very impressed with dr simons professionalism and expertise.
