Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
The Child Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) program has openings for 2018 and will start interviewing for these positions beginning in October 2017.
If you are a medical student and if you are applying for both Pediatrics (2018) and Child Neurology/NDD (2020) you will use ERAS and matches will be made through the NRMP. For further information, please visit the ERAS, NRMP, and AAMC sites. Since the Child Neurology and NDD programs are combined with Pediatrics, applicants only need to apply to the Child Neurology and/or NDD programs. A separate application to Pediatrics is not necessary.
The interview process will be arranged by Child Neurology or NDD for qualified candidates so that candidates may interview with pediatrics and Child Neurology/NDD on consecutive days. Program coordinators for pediatrics and Child Neurology/NDD will contact you about interview dates once all of the application information has been received and reviewed. An interview is a mandatory part of the application process.
The Child Neurology/NDD interview is a full day in length and includes a welcome by the program coordinator/program director, interviews with Child Neurology and NDD faculty, tours of the hospital and clinics, and lunch with the residents. For those who can arrive in Pittsburgh on the evening prior to the interview, there is a dinner with the Child Neurology/NDD residents.
Pediatric interviews are also a full day in length. Get further details.
Applicants who wish to become board-certified in Pediatrics, Child Neurology, and NDD will be required to complete specific rotations in Pediatrics during the two-year training period. The requirements can be found here.
We encourage applicants to apply by October 1, 2017.
A special agreement exists between the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), whereby an applicant who completes at least two years of accredited training in general comprehensive pediatrics and the neurology training necessary to meet the requirements for certification in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology, fulfills the training requirements of both the ABP and the ABPN.
Learn more about Pediatrics-Neurology Training Requirements at the ABP website.
