Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is one of eight pediatric hospitals in the country named to U.S. News & World Report's Honor Roll of America's "Best Children's Hospitals."
Children’s Hospital is ranked in all 10 of the pediatric specialties on the magazine’s annual Best Children’s Hospitals list. Hospitals that ranked in all 10 specialties make U.S. News’ Honor Roll.
The magazine’s annual ranking lists the top 30 children’s hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties. The specialties are: cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology; heart and heart surgery; kidney; neonatology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology.
Compared to last year, Children’s Hospital’s ranking improved in eight of the 10 specialties, and Children’s is ranked in the top 10 in three of the specialties: diabetes and endocrinology, 3rd; gastroenterology, 6th; and pulmonology, 6th.
"The depth and breadth of our expertise across all the pediatric subspecialties is significant and becoming more impressive each year," said Christopher Gessner, president of Children's Hospital. "Our total focus is providing the best pediatric care to each and every patient and our achievements are increasingly being recognized on a national and international level. Its great to see our physicians and staff receive the recognition they deserve."
The 2010-11 "Best Children's Hospitals" rankings are published online today. The rankings also will be published in the August print issue of the magazine, which will be available on newsstands starting July 27.
