Coaching Boys into Men is a program developed by Futures Without Violence. This program guides middle and high school coaches to talk to their male athletes about stopping violence against women and girls. Specifically, the CBIM program aims to increase knowledge of what constitutes abuse, increase positive gender attitudes and increase the number of youth who intervene when witnessing disrespectful behaviors. The current research study is being conducted within 40 middle schools throughout southwest Pennsylvania.
Male and female athletes, grades 6-8, who are participating in boys or coed sports teams at participating schools.
Participants will complete three surveys. Surveys will be conducted at the beginning of the sports season, the end of the season, and one year after the beginning of the season. Surveys will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
