Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
The goals of this project are to better define the prevalence of female sexual dysfunction in adult women with complex congenital heart disease and then to identify potential mechanisms involved. Until recently, there has been a shortage of sexual health screening and reproductive health education and counseling to women with CHD. To date, studies have not attempted to identify: 1) the prevalence of female sexual dysfunction or 2) understand the exact mechanisms that contribute to sexual dysfunction in this unique and complex population.
The study is open to women ages 18 and up with complex congenital heart disease who are being followed at the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. A control group of women without congenital heart disease will also participate.
Females: Ages 18 and above
Participation requires completing a series of surveys related to quality of life and sexual health, and collection of limited medical history information.
Visits: A single visit
Duration: Not applicable
